The weatherman didn’t lie. He said it would be windy and boy, was it. I fished maybe two hours and couldn’t take being tossed around anymore. Late start about 9 and went to where Jim and I last time out and put out the 8 poles I had brought, leaving the 12’s at home. First fish was a small striper (stripper?) and he went back in the pool. The next rod to bend was one of my 9’s with a beetle spin. Thought of speck detector when it got hit and bent the rod hard. 13” fish and he went in the box. Took a while for the next one to bend but it was the other 9’ when it did. I had just put a beetle spin on that one with a pink/chartreuse curl tail. It went down hard too with another 13” fish. Right about now I was liking the trend. I had started upwind knowing the wind would increase and I didn’t want to go upwind to go home. That wound up being a smart plan. 2 fish in the and looking for more. Turned south with a plan of making one long troll back to the ramp and call it a day, but the wind was getting stiffer all the time. One of the four seven footers I had out the back went down hard and I was scrambling, trying not to lose my balance on the way to the back, rollers were getting big. This one was 12”+ and thick. I passed and spoke with a couple of guys in a fisher aluminum boat and I thought that they were tougher than me. I kept going south and the wind got tough and being alone, my conscience started talking to me. Just wasn’t smart to be out in stuff like this alone. I wrapped up and headed back to the guys in the Fisher and gave them my three to go with their four. Holiday wishes and a sporty ride downwind to the ramp. Fish number five had come when I was winding up the rods but he was small enough I didn’t even know he was there til I picked up the rod. A good couple of hours and dodged a bullet with the high winds. I said a thank you prayer as I got to the glassy water near the ramp. Cabin fever abated for now, hopefully next weekend will be less windy and I can get out again. Should I not talk with you before it, have a great Thanksgiving Holiday. Fishing is cool but it’s the people and family that are the most important. Enjoy them when and while you can, things change fast these day. Til next time we meet……Skeet
