Default Anyone have a clue about transporting over state lines.

I’m asking for a friend that is in the eel business. Does anyone know what is necessary or who he might be able to talk to, in order to get the proper paperwork to legally transport live fish, namely eels, out of Florida?

Eels are great, firm-fleshed fish. Ate my share in MD. Also very good to smoke!

Not sure how u clean one. I think they have to be pressure cooked because of the bones. I caught a kingclip eel one time in the salt about 4' long and tried to clean it...got discouraged real kwik

On the Potomac River in Virginia there was a family that used traps to catch eels, which they then put aboard airplanes to be sold in Europe. They had an entire setup for eels and soft shell crabs. Koreans will slice them into segments and eat them while still wiggling.

Smoked eel is good as stated.
Maybe they will bite this one……

Tater- Actually, their bone-structure is the same as all fish(Backbone/ribs) NOT like Shad/herring family. My favorite buddy "Mr. Puffer" has NO rib bones!Cleaning an eel is exactly like Old-School Catfish skinnin'! Highly-prized Overseas and consequently command top dollar as an export. My homestate of Maryland used to have a large Commercial "eeling pot" operation in a bunch of tidal rivers significantly during their Springtime spawning migration. Enough so, that it decimated that fishery almost completely. Don't think anybody does it anymore!
Don't let one escape your bucket near your cleaning table though, you may find it 3 days later Slitherin' away from your ridin' mower blades! Those rascals do really well outta water, especially in colder temps./high humidity/tall grass. There are even varieties of fish/eels that readily migrate across land to relocate! Have even found a Blue Crab or two that way over the years! TRUE BLUE right there Tater'! Cut 'em up in 1 - 2"chunks (w/w-o bones) and fry 'em up just like anything else. If you leave 'em any longer than that- they will constrict(curl). Even had the fileted chunks sauteed slowly in red or white wine sauce and served over noodles. If you want to play a lil' "sumthin' " on your family/friends...try sprinkling a lil' SALT on a freshly skinned container of eels or froglegs and make arrangements for getting yourself out of their Way{exit} as you are doing the VIDEO!!

Sorry, almost forgot...don't forget the extra set of underwear/diapers!! Definitely a "Clean up on Aisle Seven!!"
So there ya go...been there dun it/go get cha sum or ask SLAB!
