After being fortunate to have adequate success in the freshwater Crappie action for the past 8 weeks or so, the alarm went off so I called the COPS= Change of pursuit scenario! 1st day of West coast Snook season arrived yesterday on a nice, welcomed warm-up day promised by the meteorologists. Wasn't in too much of a hurry due to slow warm-up, so I set the game plan in motion around 11 am to see what I could slip a net under. 2nd cast yielded a beautiful fat 17" speckled trout.Ended up with keeping a 5 fish limit of 10 keeper-sized trout measuring from 16- 19".
Adding to the artificial-only lure catch was 3 ladyfish(2 acrobatic 22" monsters), 3 lb. Bluefish, undersized trout, undersized seabass. A very nice COP(change of pace) but the targeted Snook proved evasive for now. Water temp was 71 with a nice rising tide all afternoon.
Also set 5 crab pots that only yielded 5 blue crabs @day's end.
