    Default Salta Plaus West Pole

Yesterday's venue was influenced by a few encumbrances I recently had in my pursuit of Mr. Speck trying sensibly to stay close to home. Trouble with the I-pilot remote, 1 of 2 12 volt batteries(free warranty replacement), and overall meager results, said 'Go West ol' man'. After running out of road, I decided to launch my J-16 at a dreadfully low negative tide. The low H2O factor was to be later quantified by a persistent, stiff Easterly 20 -25 mph wind which meant ZERO incoming tide! Well, needless to say, this would surely "corral" the fish, consequently make for a quick day of it when found. After trying 5 or 6 proven spots with no success, I moved on to the next spot which yielded a magnificent eye massage = a beautifully marked 19.5" Red w/13 spots!

As luck would have it, after the photoshoot, while attempting to add fish to front platform-mounted cooler, the captor found his freedom. Only somewhat bummed, I figured I could best this one fish only "Red Houdini"! After all, now I was on the positive "memorable" side of my pursuits. Today's boat speed would be dreadfully slow but that was easily managed just knowing that greener pastures wait ahead. Totals for the day were Trout 5/12 up to 19.5"

Ladyfish 1, and the last cast HIGHLIGHT of the day...29" Snook 2 caught. Unfortunately, West Coast Snook season ended on November 30th, however fish picture season is never closed...East coast has the added benefit in keeping them 'til end of December.

I was fortunate enough to land this exceptional fish with a 5 1/2" light action BPS rod w/2000 reel and 10 lb. Super slick 8. My true favorite "challenge outfit". One 1/8 oz. jig head and two different color bodies were the only lures used today, on breakoffs. Yep, forgot the Band aids/safety kit, fashioned one out of clean strip of blue towel.

Thanks for viewing Merry Christmas & Happy Hindsight(2020).
