Shu and I went out today to search for crappie on Lake Griffin and I got smoked! Well, not really, it's just that Shu caught 4 fish and I caught zero. I call that being smoked. Yep, the southern end of Griffin still stinks as far as I'm concerned. We fished most of the morning and Shu only managed four bites, and me none. Really! oh well
What was interesting is, there were these two guys in the boat below. They were killing them. They were just motoring around with a net scooping up fish. They had these things hanging off the front of their boat with what looked like chains in the water. I have to get me some of those. They made it look so easy!
At least the FWC is checking to to see if there's fish on Griffin. The result, THEY FOUND NONE! I knew it. They coulda saved their time and just asked me.
Just kidding. They were going through the weeds electrifying and scooping up fish like crazy. We seen them scooping up what looked like bass and crappie. They were dumping them in a tank they had on board. And in their wake, we seen all sorts of floaters. Seems harsh on the fish, but we did double back and seen most of the floaters did right themselves and swim off (except for the ones the Osprey got). It actually was kinda neat watching them in action doing this. I said they were scooping them up like crazy, well not really. Seems like there shoulda been lots more fish. At least that what Shu and I thought. I hung around a bit to see if they would take a break so we could talk to them, but they were too busy. Woulda been interesting to get info on species and quantities from them.
