Nah, anybody could have done that. One of my biggest regrets is allowing about a 7 foot gator to break off while fishing in FL at a farm pond. My FIL and I were fishing and I hooked that one in the mouth with a rattle trap. I got him up to the bank after a long fight and asked my FIL to hold my rod so I could get my bait back. I didn't have any pliers but I wanted that rattle trap. He talked me out of it. He said we were an hour from the closest hospital. I'm still pretty sure I could have done it without severe injury. I was about 25 at the time and relatively bullet proof, or thought so anyway.
