Did I hear something about them closing the lake ??? ( LOL )

This morning I packed up the boat and my wife and headed over to New Smyrna to try our luck. We met up with our friends Bill and Cathy and we ran over to the north bridge.

The wind was a bit stronger than i like, but we were able to tuck in behind the bridge to get out of it. Bill and Cathy tied their boat right in front of ours.

It didn't take long before I heard my wife give off her famous "ooh, ooh " call
that could only mean fish on. Sure enough, I help land the first sheepshead of the day, and it is a keeper about 15 inches. We all go back to work trying to catch up to her good start when she lets out another "ooh ooh" call. Yep !! another keeper goes in the live well.

I do my best to try and keep up with her, But she loves her sheepies and she loves to catch them. I do add a few smaller keepers to the box but it is plain that this is going to be her day. I look over to see how Bill and Cathy are doing. They have put a few fish in their box but not as many as Paula.

We did have a good time feeding the fish and did manage to boat a few. A lot of under size ones did bend our rods, I think Bill got the record for that, but we had a good time. We called it quits around Noon.

We came home with 7 fish for me and Paula and Bill took home 2 nice keepers. A good day with some friends and some action as well. Now we are talking about our next trip. (but first I have to give my Bass Tracker a fresh water bath - - in Lake Monroe - - if it's open LOL )
