Goof story Skeet - thanks for sharing

Had something happen today that just reinforced the need for us to wear polarized glasses when we fish, but let me build the scenario just a little first. For a few months I have been fishing an area that has been more than good to me. The area is fairly big, but like any other area, it has a couple of sweet spots. I always look to get into one of those in particular that gives up a couple of good fish over a pound on each trip. So I eased out to start like I normally do, and found them slow at best. Got a couple so I wasn't all bummed out but I was wondering why. As I moved to get into the sweet spot, I found the reason why. I was fishing behind someone that knew where these fish lived. Said hello and moved away, not wanting to intrude. I was getting a few but not like it should have been, and the weather was perfect, and I wasn't at work, so all was good. One of the plus' was that every fish was good enough to keep. These would go to some friends that had asked for some small enough to fry whole, and 6 of these would do just that. Time went by, the heat began to build, the bite began to slow, and my neighbor said goodbye and headed for home in Sebring. Now to hit everything once more before I did the same. I had been throwing some BGBS on a 1/32 as the wind was giving me fits trying to use the Nanofil and a 1/64 on the other rod. The last 30 minutes casting had been almost unproductive, with only 3 strong hits that felt like gills or classic hit-n-spit's. So I grabbed the 10' SHSS dipping rod and started dropping a 1/16 with a BGBS with some chartreuse on it. One more pretty good keeper went in the box, and I was finishing this pass and heading home shortly after. That's when I saw him. Easing in around the structure I saw a big set of fins with a NICE crappie connected to them. Picked up and dropped into the hole where I saw him, and dropped it right on top of the only piece of grass in there. Murphy's Law. Pulled hard and pulled the jig and grass out and shook it clear and dropped it back in, no longer able to see the fish. Staying in touch, I began some movement of the jig just below the surface, figuring that I had spooked the fish with the grass. Dropped it a few inches and began to pull it out for another shot and SMACK!! Set the hook and the rod bent hard, and began to reach for the net with the other hand. Got lucky on the first swipe and the last and biggest fish of the day lay in the net. At about a pound and a quarter it was no giant, but it sure was a good way to finish a relaxing morning. Had I not had my polarized glasses on, that last fish would never have happened. Little in life is better than sight fishing. My friends were pleased with the fish and I was ready for the house. 11 fish made the box and 0 throwbacks. Not a bad day for fishing behind someone that knew what he was doing. Thanks for the visit.......Skeet.
Creativity is just intelligence fooling around
Makes for tough fishing Tim, hate when I find someone fishing my honey hole. First time out in a month and a half pull into my spot yesterday and find a fresh cut branch, not good. Still caught some but not in the numbers I should have. This spot takes a few days to restock. How were the gar where you were fishing, they kept me busy eating my jig or cork. Dang the rivers low!!!!

Good job Skeet! I was bream fishing behind a guy in the river up here on Friday and every 3 or 4 minutes I would here him close his box. I didn't catch any fish til I got past him. I ended up with 37 keepers.

Every time we go to a lake or river =always treat it like its first time there - stay away till 1/2 or better before going to
regular spots. Never know what you will find at beginning of trip - always look for something new.
Makes a better fisherman out of a person, forces the mind to think
