I know I'm slow, but I finally found the vise (don't ask) and dug through my stuff and memory to put together some of the Gray Ghost variations I've tied and used in the past. They're all on 1/16 #4 jigs and the painting stuff is still packed so they got used nekked. The middle one is a hen hackle feather and is not as long and more rounded on the tip than pointed like a saddle hackle would be. Falls a bit slower. The left is tied with 1/4" sections of the hackle feather after you cut off the tip for another jig. This one has 4 of those, look like V's when you use em. Call those Stingers. Next from the left is a hackle feather tip and a couple of V's for bulk. The fourth is all Maribou tips having been removed from the shaft of the feather, and the right is a squirrel with half of the hair on, then some flash, then the rest of the hair. It didn't show in the pics but I twisted some flashy chenille with the regular and added a little reflection to it, too small I guess. The little one is a 1/80 and #10 or #12 hook that I tied just to see if I still could. Notice how the Maribou kinds stands up, I didn't remove the tips from the stem and that's what happens. It'll still work good once it's wet but I got in a hurry. All the same basic pattern with a different look. The only one I didn't tie was the red streak and that's cuz I can't find the rubber. Thanks for the incentive to drag out the tying stuff, been packed for over a year. Sure is fun and relaxing.
