    Default Panhandle crappie

Even though the Choctawhatchee River is in flood stage my snowbird friend from Kansas and I managed a nice mess of black and black nose crappie yesterday. Kept 24 in the 10.5 to 12.5 inch range and a fat warmouth. We took a small river off the main big river and went up a backwater lake and found some decently clear water. Surface temp was 62 degrees and the fish were scattered. A few had small amounts of roe....nothing like what is showing up at Talquin. All caught with minnows.

The river has been in flood stage for a while and keeps going up and down depending on the heavy rains from the west. Have another front moving through tonight with more rain and dropping temperatures.

Went back to the same lake off the river yesterday. River hasdrisen nearly 3 ft in 2 days. Everything messed up so we quit after less than an hour. River on the lower end of a major flood today.
