    Default Jig Help?

Hey. I fish in the florida swamp shallows, am new to Crappie fishing, but spent some time doing some research here and gathered what materials I could. I decided to go with a fixed bobber, split shot and jig. So, after browsing the local stores I was able to get some 1/16 chartreuse marabou jigs, 1/32 pink marabou jigs and 1/32 chartreuse plastic jigs (curly tail). I know that I should try all of these out, but what should I expect to have the best luck with that I should start on the line? I would have ideally found a 1/32 chartreuse marabou jig. I am trying for crappie, but would take any panfish large enough to eat. Additionally, do I need to bait the jig or will I still have some luck without any minnows, worms or artificial bait on the jig? thanks,

I have had luck tipping the jig with minnows, but also had luck just with the jig alone. Also have fished with jigs up to 1/8 oz.

I don't use minners unless baconator says I need them

Typically I use a jig only but I mostly longline troll too

Start with those 1/32 using your set up. Cast into a likely spot and let it sit for a minute then gradually move it back to you with a stop and go retrieve. If that dosnt produce try casting and a slow steady retrieve. I would try to find some in Black and Chartruse. Get you come white or Chartruse crappie nibbles. If it's slow tip your jig with one. Lay out about a dozen and let them air dry, makes them a little tougher.

Are you going to be fishing from shore or boat?

Bobber - 6 lb test mono - 2 - 3 split shot 1 ft below shot - attach you jig - 32nd works good minnow - crappie nibbles
depending on depth - Crappie look up to strike - 6 ft water, set bobber 2 ft under cork..work from that starting point
Hot fun - not rocket science down here -

from shore.. I am not sure the resistance weight of my bobber (small generic red and white round 1-1/4"). split shot is a #5

are you sure that there are crappie where you are fishing if so,you might try a 1/16 weedless jig with a char. or white twister tail body .throw it out as far as you can and let sink to the bottom and slowly reel in keeping it close to the bottom or top of weeds
