    Default Monroe Cleanup

I had a great time. We should do this everyday. Dang though, need more energy to do this, and a better back. I'm used to just pushing a button, dropping the boat in the water, and not catchin' fish. This is totally different. You know, having to drive and launch, and all. And then the bouncing on the water in those 20 mpg winds. All that wreaked havoc on this old mans back. Have to take it easy the next few days.

Here are some of the pics I took.

Caught Shu taking a break sneaking into his lunch basket. Ask him about his peanut butter and jelly and butter samiches next time you see him. They are mmm good! We took a break from the wind at a secret cove Speckanator showed me a while back. A heck of a lot less wind here.

Yep, that's flycaster underneath all that. He was trying to hide from the wind too.

Floridaboy's boy also took home a little Mr. Crappie goody. They caught a nice mess there for sure.

We certainly missed all those that could not attend. Hope to see you all next time.

Thanks for putting this one together Specktacklure, and Flycaster and eveyone else that helped as well. Great fish Danny.

Speaking of Danny, dang it if I did not get a pic of our visitor from Louisiana. He bought some awesome pee can pie. I'll try to get a pic tomorrow when I fish with him one last time before he flies his 5th wheel back to his home state. I did get a great pic of Mae with my Mom though:

Turns out Mae's moms birthday and my moms birthday are on the same day. My mom loved spending the time she did with Mae and Danny.

I had a great time meeting everyone and Mae just fell for your Mom. The fruit was pickled loquats. We call them Japan plums around south La. Thanks so much for the hospitality. We sure enjoyed spending time with Sharon and you. Nice place to live. Glad for you guys.

"Quote Slab" And I still want to know what the heck this stuff was. It's good though, gotta say. "UNQUOTE Slab"

    Spiced Pickled Loquats

5 lbs firm loquats, stem and blossom ends trimmed (leave the skin and seeds)
    pickling syrup:
    3 c sugar
    2 1/2 c water
    3 1/2 c cider vinegar
    1 tbs whole cloves
    1 tbs whole allspice
    1 stick cinnamon

Bring the syrup to a boil, put in fruit and cook until tender. Put fruit in sterilized jars, fill jars with hot syrup, and seal.

Let your jars sit for at least a couple weeks for the flavors to develop. These make a fabulous appetizer if you remove the seeds and stuff the loquats with plain chevre.

THANKS to ALL that came, we had a great day as well. The fishin was slow & the wind was not too friendly, started out chilly but the day got nice.

It was good to see the regular attendees & meet some new people. I appreciate everyone taking the time to come out & meet up for 1 last gathering for the "season".

The fish are always there but cooperate better at certain times, it won't be long before the long hot summer days are beating us down as were dreamin for those cool

mornings to head out in search of that 3 lber. Hopefully we can continue to do this & can get more people involved as it continues.

Thanks to pontoon pappy I guess?? for bringin the cookin materials - Speckanator thanks for letting us use the equipment, we missed you & were thinkin of you.

A BIG THANKS TO phantom309(DANNY) for bringin all the fish to cook

Thank you flycaster for cookin & runnin the weigh in

Thanks to SLAB for everything & the sponsors that support us !!!!!!

Nice to meet the new faces: billadelphia & son, floridaboy61 & grandson, & "D" who made some awesome pecan pies.

I am pleased to say there was not much trash found on the water. Good to see & talk with ricerocket & Pontiac, thanks for joinin us.

The finest gift you can give to any fisherman is to put a good fish back, and who knows if the fish that you caught isn't someone else's gift to you?"
