My son in law Mike was at the house early and we got to watch another wonderful sunrise as we motored toward the bridge and Monroe. We finally got the Geezer Breezes this morning, flat calm for the first time in a long while. We went outside the fenders and turned back downriver pulling and pushing jigs and a couple of cranks. Nada. Cleared the RR bridge and still nothing. As we began to stow rods we got one to go in the box. Put up the big rods and broke out the casting rods and began to cast anything that looked fishy. Mike had never done this before and is a quick study and listens very well. I described what would happen when he got a hit and what to look for on a lift bite and how to just concentrate on staying buttoned up when a good fish was on. Once was all it took. We pitched curl tails just cuz they fell a little slower with the 1/32 heads. I heard him say"Here we go" and he had his first while casting and letting it fall through the water column. Fought it well, good fish, and his net man got it to the boat. He turns to me and with the excitement of a young person says" it was just like you said it would be, the thump and all. That was cool!!". We pitched around and got several more, I think we had 11 in the box at about 10:30 and things had slowed down, so we headed for the lake. By this time the wind had showed it's ugly head and in talking with Crappieday a couple of times during the day, hoped we could find a few more up where he was. Good to see you today Andy. Long story short; by the time we got together it was too windy to be any fun and my bird dog was back to following me around again so we headed home. Glad we left when we did, wouldn't have been fun had it gotten any worse. Mike and I caught the 2 that measured 14" and another that was very close to that. The 2 biggest ones came from the exact same spot about an hour apart. The final count on the clicker was 18 and the box had 12 which went home to be dinner another day. He got some, I got some and the neighbor across the street got some for her and Mom to share. I did the electric knife part and Mike learned to remove the ribs. All told, an exceptional day for me. If this is a precursor for the New Year, I'm ready. I've been blessed with people to share what I love with. Thanks for taking the time to read this, I know I ramble some.....Skeet

Really enjoyed your report and nothing wrong with that rambling at all, great pics and looks like y'all had a good time. I tried Lake Dorr this morning in the forest and caught 11 all were dinks and were scattered but like always, enjoyed. See what the weather looks like in the morning, might try Monroe for a little while. Few weeks ago caught a few nice slabs around the pilings on the I-4 bridge dropping a jig with minnow but just that one day tried there a couple more times and had no luck. Thanks for your report.
Good report.... Sunrise is awesome!

Glad you had a good day, some nice fish.
Good to see you too Tim, wasn't that slick water nice for a change, even if it didn't last. My count for the day was 24 single pole and 24 long lining. Only long lined for the last hour and it was crazy. Was only fishing in 5 to 6 fow and running 1.3 to 1.5 mph two jigs 1/16 or 1/24 and a 1/64 oz. had all 6 rods (that's all that I normally fish) go at one time, and one double. Only got 4 of the fish in the boat, then the wind got up and that was it. Dark colors mostly and short line 20 to 25 ft back max they were right on top, lots of nice fish too.
Singlepoling, fishing natural colored tube on 1/16 oz jigs casting and retrieving slowly around structure. Now comes the story was fishing some old pier pilings holding the boat to the edge of the pilings and casting/pitching into the inside. Well a boat comes right to where I was pitching and catching fish from and anchors up. What the????????? I keep casting and pulling fish from around their boat, after an hour of them drowning minnows and not catching much they moved on. Later on they past by me as I was long lining and said (see ya A@& H$&@)..............what's up with people???????????
Cranial Rectosis Andy, seems to be a lot of it around the holidays.
