I thought the primary engine would spook the fish that's why I've never tried it. The bite seemed to be consistent using the primary engine, even the lines that were in the side vertical rod holders (the line is very close to the boat, almost touching the side of the boat) got hits. The long lines were getting hit just about the same also with the big motor, definitely something I'd try again, especially for a change of pace in presentation, the rise and more importantly the subsequent fall may activate otherwise finicky fish.
Luckily I don't think there are stripers in these waters. I've never caught one here. A school of the green carp would create chaos, not as many bass in the deeper water, saw some boats out on Agnes on the way home from work. May try there later in the week, at the least keep drowning minners up here.
