Harold one of the best days Terry and I had was when you and Mike the Professor stopped by our camper at Lake Manatee and you had invited Luther (RIP) whom I had been exchanging IMs with. And Luther brought over some old books about Florida fishing areas and old maps and a big old net for catching grass shrimp. And we all shared stories about crappie fishing etc. It was basically like a mini slabtogether because none of us really knew each other but we net through this forum.

And I cant speak for the others but the reason Terry and I dont go to any FCC tournaments is because we get comfortable with a good fishing spot not too far from us and just stick with that. As far as the negativity... I dont see it as negativity so much as a few old goobers having a bromance and always trying to one up each other.

But they are also always willing to help an out of towner that posts or IMs and even take them fishing just as you are. You guys are all promoting the same thing and thank goodness for this forum where so many good people have come together.

I think that alone is a huge part of both. People want to be comfortable and feel confident where and when they are fishing.

Then comes the other part of the equation. Time! The FCC basically has 2 tourney a month with many fishing both sides on occasion. CDC has usually 1 a month except on occasion when Talquin has theirs and Central Florida throws one as well the next week just to get together,Hard to have 2 TX's and a slabfest a month and something not overlap somewhere. I have my 4 in and headed to Crescent so I can join in the slabfests now for that fun as well. And agree both sides are great and both have good fisherman with an edge going to FCC with their following of heavy hitters, but they will share info and techniques to help. Difference I see is with FCC most talk is before hand with the long fishing days and CDC afterwards with the eats and BS session from a shorter day on the water. Personally I prefer the shorter fishing day and good BS session afterwards. 8 hours on the water is a long day, not that I dont enjoy it, but am beat afterwards. So really dont see it as a rivalry per say, more that some prefer the pressure of a true TX style and some prefer a more laid back go fishing and enjoy the fellowship kinda day. All in all with 1 common theme, we are all ate up with Crappie fishing to a high degree.
