Sunshine bass are a hybrid and they should have have broken stripes on the front half and straight lines on the rear half of the body. Lots of good info here.....

Yeah its a sunshine. A striper doesnt have broken bars. If you look at your fish picture you will see the broken bars by the gills, the lines are not straight like they would be on a striper. This is a dead giveaway.

As speckanator mentioned above, they are also known as hybrids in other parts of the country, they are a cross between a striper and white bass I believe. Do not hold me to this information on the specifics but a true striper has perfect unbroken bars/lines. If there are any disformation of the bars its a hybrid of some sort

I'm back in Ohio once again, I had a good trip to the St. Johns river again. The best day I had fishing was last Thursday I think, the temp was in the low 50's with strong west winds. I was the only one trolling Woodruff that day (some what like Lake Erie conditions). I pulled 41 fish over 1Lb. 8 Oz. and 8 of them well over 2 Lb. Once again my Minn Kota I pilot trolling motor was the most valuable tool on the boat for those conditions.
I also had a great time at http://www.frontstreet-bait.com/ Bean and Mary have a great fish camp with the best location in all of Astor.

Just for the record most all fish were released to fight another day, I brought home 60 fish. JC

Sounds like a good trip to me. FYI, I stayed at Frontstreet based on your recommendation last Fall. It's not a bad spot at all.
