Seriously though...anyone have theory why those buzzards seem to only be at coes?...i thought it might be because of the fish cleanin table there....but some of the other ramps with cleanin tables dont have the problem....ive been fishin talquin since i moved to tallahassee in 1998 and it seems like they just appeared within the last few years.....any long time talquiners seen this in the past?

The buzzards roost at the Iron Curtain along with kizillion Coots/comarants. Been hearing for many years they will peck at any shiny item on your vehicle especially the crome. Guess over the last few years they have asociated the vehicles with finding something to eat .....my thoughts only.

The Curtain area was wrapped up with them in the trees as long as I can remember. For some reason they tend to hang out more near the landing now. I have wondered if it was the fish cleaning or a septic issue myself.

Not to hi-jack this thread from crappie to buzzards....but it is an interesting phenonimon. I read a lengthy article in Audobon Magazine that is very educational, but there was nothing on why buzzards select a particular place to hang out.

When I was a Coe's Landing a few weeks ago it was a real mess around there. Apparently the state and neighbors just let them be. There were a number of rigs in the parking lot with buzzards sitting on them, etc. I guess these anglers just live and let live. Coe's is an excellent landing and close to The Iron Curtain and the river so it's a popular place.

There have been reports of buzzards moving into an area with no apparent reason like neighborhoods and such and just taking up residence. After a while they sometimes several weeks they just move on to somewhere else.

Maybe instead of the " Old Geezers Club it should be" The Old Buzzards Club" maybe these buzzards are just some of the Old Geezers That Have Passed Over The Rainbow Bridge gathering to see the fishing?

There isn't a bait spot on this side. I live at Joe Budd and always go to 20 for bait.

    Default buzzards

in 2012 had the same problem. buzzards had flipped wipers over and pecked anything that was rubber, really made me mad. i left went to the other end of the lake and fished, ended up getting checked by game warden and mentioned it to him. he said that they never even had a complaint. told him that he had one now what could i do. the answer was you better not get caught harrasing them.

I would think part of his job was to relocate these animals, but guess he would rather threaten someone whose property just got destroyed. Go over his head and get a nuisance permit. Contact:
The Wildlife Services group of the United States Department of Agriculture at 352-377-5556 can provide more information.
