I like to push but I'm going to really try to get into pulling this year. It's the one style I haven't tried that much. I've seen guys do very well at both.

It is really according to what lake you are on. Crescent Lake does better for pullers where The Harris Chain seems to do better for the pushers. I personally pull all the time.

I like to do both. In Virginia I do mostly pushing, or we call it tight lining. Pulling is a lot more fun catching though. The gang from Georgia got me into pulling this year at lake Talquin.

TNT hit on it correctly - depends on what lake you on...........
Also depends on which style you have most confidence in....
Each has its own benefits - cover more ground on pulling
Speed, amount of line out, weight of jig or jigs, into or against wind
or moving slower, methical in coverning water in an area or contour, working
the jig or combinations, depth, etc. points, flats, drop-offs, brush piles..

It definitely depends on the lake, time of year and conditions. I have some lakes I push, others I longline and once you get to the clearer lakes to the north dockshooting is the way. I have also seen it where vertical jigging is the way to go. Like Columbus, Mississippi. There is not a right or wrong way. Neither is one pattern better all the time than another. I longline most of the time only because 75% of the year it is the best way to fish Talquin, but have found fishing on other waters that you better be versatile. Versatility is the best way learn many techniques not just one.

I used to push more than pull, but the more I learn the more I lean to pullin.
