    Default 11/23 report

Fished with a friend that came down from SC to enjoy the fishing. Saturday we fished a lake thats part of the St.Johns river system. Longlined in 10fow, using double 1/16th jigs at .9-1.3 mph. Best colors were acid rain and junebug/chart. Final tally for Saturday was 36 fish, all over 12".

Sunday we fished a different lake on the St.Johns system and did pretty good for the first hour then the wind got out of control. We kept 13 with one being a solid 16" fish. We caught the fish the same way as Saturday, just fished water that was a little shallower.

All three 16" inchers I caught at Crescent last January weighed 2 lbs and 1 ounce...the 16 1/2 incher was 2 lbs 6 oz....Those weights will probably be close to what he caught!!

Nice going TC, always a good day when you fish with good friends. The catching is just a bonus.

That is interesting TnT...last year dad and I never did get a 16" fish, but our 15" crappie's all weighed from 2 lbs to 2lb 5oz. Those mamas had some fat bellies. Not sure I've ever caught a 16" crappie come to think of it.

I have only caught 3 or 4 down here myself. And 2 have been by folks fishing with me. They are pretty rare, most just look and guess weights and lengths. I weigh the big ones and measure them for my log.

The 16 inchers were caught at Slabfest and the 16 1/2 incher was at the Crappie USA Tournament. I don't guess at the weights or lengths, I have a measurement tool and scales and they matched up with the one Flycaster had at Slabfest. I don't keep any records or anything like that, I just take a pic and keep looking for another biggun!! I find it interesting how a 15 inch fish can weigh 2 lbs and not explode, but it happens!! We were there for Slabfest and not for fishing, so all of our fish were either released or given to Danny after weighin. The 16 1/2 incher was released after weighin at CUSA. It weiged 2.36 lbs, which is 2 lbs 5.76 oz.

This is the one I caught at Slabfest at Crescent last year...2 lbs 1 oz, 16 inches long. The other 2-2+ lbers Talquin Maggie caught on the Friday before while we were prefishing for Slabfest.

This one is 17 1/4 inches weighing 2.77 lbs I caught at Talquin 3-4 years ago.

This isn't a good pic of 2 lb 5.76 fish, but shows 3 of the gooduns we caught at CUSA.
