    Default George/Welaka - Speckanator

"Anyone have any info on Welaka Lodge ........... Welaka Lodge & Resort It's on the north end of Little Lake George. I'm planning a trip up there and check it out." I wanted to check back to see what you or anyone else knows about the fishing in this area. I've really been wanting to fish George and Little Lake George.

Never stayed there but we drove up back in the summer to check it out for RV camping. Didn't check out the cabins. Clean well kept nice layout and docks etc. I think they have food and entertainment on the weekends also. Just a block or two from the main launch in Welaka. Looked like a nice bait and tackle/general store right at the ramp. Cell coverage and wi-fi also. Nice quiet area.........I think it would be worth a try!

I wonder what the speck fishing is like up there. Only one way to find out.........ask the locals.

I never got past the fenders on the south end of George. Good luck up there.

The Welaka lodge is a great place.
Have stated in the cabins and camped there
Tried lake George bombing range a couple of times but didn't do good
U can get to rodman thru the barge canal locks about 5 miles north of Welaka
I've caught good sized ones around the pilings in that area but not good numbers

Thanks for the info Liberty Hound! You might be the resident expert for that area...no one seems to talk about it much on these boards.

Never stayed there. We usually stay at http://www.georgetownmarina.com/ when we fish that area. This Marina has good facilities and they have a good Spec guide that works out of here. Make sure you check out Shrimp-R-Us in Welaka before you leave.
