Where to mount bases?
Got a Tracker 190 and the Cumberland 360s that I've been using for longlining. I got some extra bases to get them set up for spider rigging, but from all the pictures I've browsed on the site, folks have them set up as close to the bow as possible. Makes sense to get the most real estate out in the water. However, the problem is the seat location on the 190 is set pretty far back. Also it's 50/50 whether I'll have a partner or go solo. If buddied up I just use lawn chairs cause I don't have a double seat mount yet. Seems there will have to be a compromise on the rigs location since placing them ideally for 2 people will likely make a harder reach when going solo. Also I'll be starting with 4 12'ers.
Appreciate any advice from you veteran spiders!

put them so you dont have to lean over all the time to reach them. its no fun to be bent ver all day.Just like my G3 you have plywood decks i think, screw em down and try it, if you dont like it unscrew em mount else where and rough up the carpet and you will never know you made hole. everyone talks about allummiiummmm decks but cant beat plywood for mounting stuff.

That is true, I can move em after trying. I guess my concern is, if as you say I want to be comfortable without constantly reaching, I may lose a good amount of rod length carrying over the boat. I know I could compensate with longer poles, but can't afford that right now. Will definitely be some trial and mostly error this weekend lol

When you sit downonyour front deck just put them where you can reach them very easily and so that they are out of the way of trolling motor/ depth finder (if you run one up front), and where you don't feel cramped. If you feel cramped a 8 hour day on the water is not as enjoyable. I don't have the T bars from Cumberland Crappie, I have singles from Elite Rod Holders but here is how my spiderigging/tightlining holders are set up......

Yes. I have a homemade double seat stand but I just ordered another one from EZT pole perch. I just started guiding and need to be able to fish 4 people so I need 2 double seat stands now.......

If you have to set them back a ways you might want to go with 14 footers on each side of the trolling motor. That will keep your line from getting into your trolling prop.

So I set em up in the front at an angle. Went out to my little local lake yesterday to just give the set up a whirl and they were pretty comfortable for two of us. I did order and will be getting the EZT rig tomorrow. So caught 4 total yesterday, 2 speck 2 bass, but didn't really have any expectations as I was mostly configuring the setup.
Today was the first spider rig test at Lake Rochelle. Got a good tip from a nearby tackle shop. Went out at first light, went to first spot, get the poles out. Some double minnows, some minnow/jig combo. Set depths at 12-10-10-8-6. The HB 898 is going crazy...lots of action (at 8' and 10' in 15FOW) ....no bites. An hour in, my buddy pulls in a 12" speck on a very soft bite. No other action for the next 90 minutes. Switched to longlining, got 2 more, missed 2. My thought is the longlining with roadrunners tipped with minnows resulted in more of a reaction bite at a bite more speed than the "feeding" presentation of the spider rig? Althought it was 1 fish/hr rate, we still had a good time, and Rochelle looks very promising. Am I on the right track here folks? Will the action pick up when the weather cools?
