The last time I fished Poinsett was about 3 weeks ago and did miserably, I wasn't jigging but was trolling in Winder and the deep areas coming back in middle river, just a few real small ones. The people I talked with wasn't even doing that good. I was doing pretty well (at least for me) out in the lake but when we got that warm spell and the water started dropping I quit getting them. I was hoping to get out to middle river this weekend and will let you know how it goes. I've never jigged for crappie, what would be the best setup and what kind of river structure would they relate to at this point. I kinda of started giving up on the crappie and was going back to bass fishing but was going to give it another shot this weekend. Wish me luck, as I certainly need it, LOL. See Ya
    NAW ! ! ! !
They just startin to light up ! ! ! (spawn)
They leaving the lake = going to the banks to make nests and lay eggs.
Use anything with/chartueuse (+/-) minnows, fish right up next to the bank 6 inches downward to 6 feet, just keep it off bottom, jig around ......
Use trolling motor = work your way on down the bank, you'll pick one up here and there = if ya get one, try the same spot again, etc .....
Just keep workin your way on down the bank. best is where there's a steep drop off, but start shallow, work it (jig) on down deeper ............
(don't tell anybody I told ya this) .........

We already started our own secret-society private message board, but to qualify you have to suck at catching crappie, so that would leave you out, Sorry

On the easternshore line of Poinsett, about 1.5 miles from the launch try the arm that extends back. Gets pretty shallow in their so proceed with caution.
