Best thing to do is stay active on the forum and soon as they have a Crappiefest, go to it. Great bunch of guys on here from all states. You may also can tag up with some who are going to a common lake to fish.
We usually have a "who is going where" thread each week on our SC board and folks chime in on their plans.
Good Luck and welcome to the forum.

Slabfests are the best way to meet other fishermen in your area.

    Hey Sim,
I fish alot by myself also as both boys are grown and moved. Where and what are you looking to fish for? I live here in Cocoa and mainly fish Poinsett and Winder but would like to fish some lakes up your way, PM me and we can hook up somewhere. Just to let you know I mostly bass fish but have been trying my luck crappie fishing some lately, not doing so great like most of pro's here but have picked up few. Give me a shout and we can try our luck.

    Hey Phantom,

Its well within the banks now as the water level is dropping fast, I've fished the last couple weeks down in Washington with very limited success, caught a few on the west shoreline in some wood that is there casting a white spinner. The last time I fished Poinsett was about 3 weeks ago and did miserably, I wasn't jigging but was trolling in Winder and the deep areas coming back in middle river, just a few real small ones. The people I talked with wasn't even doing that good. I was doing pretty well (at least for me) out in the lake but when we got that warm spell and the water started dropping I quit getting them. I was hoping to get out to middle river this weekend and will let you know how it goes. I've never jigged for crappie, what would be the best setup and what kind of river structure would they relate to at this point. I kinda of started giving up on the crappie and was going back to bass fishing but was going to give it another shot this weekend. Wish me luck, as I certainly need it, LOL. See Ya
