Here's the deal.....I voted for the forum because it seemed a lot of folks were for it. I probably won't use it. I'd rather text, phone, or PM stuff, but some feel it's a good way to get information out there. I 've never really cared about lurkers anyway. All they have to do is go to any lake and look for the boats or check google earth and see where they're congregated. I enjoy the social value in sharing fishing reports like photos and members names etc. and if we didn't have the BS it seems it would be pretty boring reading. As far as strategy, equipment, technique etc. , we share that at the slabfests. It's not like any of us are experts anyway.

It was brought up on the Georgia forum, and I can agree with it.
If ya want something worth something, generally you are willing to pay for it.
It has been suggested that a yearly fee of $25.00 a year be paid to be a member of the moderated
forum. but the regular forum would still be free, etc......
I can do that = it certainly would cut out the lurkers, and if there are those that don't habit the
forum very much but still see our point, they'd probably put in the bucks just to support us, etc..
What ya'll think about that idea ?????????????????

My own opinion on this is that I don't want to take advantage of the members here. Some can readily afford $25 and some can not.

I might go for the $25 being used for that states specific community, like the slabfests, but even then I hate imposing that cost on members. I kinda like what Florida does at slabfests, which is they have a donation jug, and people put in a little something if they have it, and if they don't that's OK too. I've seen that at a couple Slabfests and it works out nice I believe.

I allowed for the creation of the Moderated Forum just to make some members more comfortable posting detailed reports. I've heard on occasion that people want to post details, but don't cause of fear that the world will show up on their lake, and at their fishing hole, so this has been trialled as a technique to address that. I realize it might not be for everyone, but seems to be working well for some of the states.

Now I just have to find a moderator and a little time to create it. But I guess it's a go by a wide margin at that. In the mean time, I got to make a run to Tampa to find a Billbob! I'll get that forum up here soon enough.
