Could some of you please give me some advice. I haven't fished for crappie since I was a kid, which was very long ago. I'll soon be reaching retirement and hope to be able to travel to Florida for a week or so at a time with my dog for some fishing and camping. I have a john boat with 15hp motor, so I don't imagine I will be able to wander far from a landing. I was looking at lake kissimmee state park, but I wonder if that lake isn't too big for my boat and for a beginner. Maybe I need to look for a much smaller lake. I came across Lake Manatee, which also has a state park, as a possibility. Can I get some suggestions from you guys.

"Teach a man to fish = he can feed himself "
"Teach the world to fish = you won't have any fish left to eat "
Take a look up top at the Florida campground review section.
Manatee would be great for you if you take the time to learn it. Plenty of specks and catfish and bass, Park is well kept and maintained. Others here will tell you more about Manatee. The professor, aka Jamin696 has a complete knowledge of Manatee but you may have to pm him for info.
I have not been to Talquin but would like to. lightwirehooker is very knowledgeable about Talquin and he lives in Jawja, I think.

Try Lake Talquin, state park and don't have to drive an extra 150 miles.--shu

If your coming to central Fl. you might try lake woodruff out of Highland Park fish camp. Woodfruff is 2200 acres with lot of cover and has a lot of Specks. Highland Park has a small campground for campers it's clean and the people are really helpful
