I fished Haws Creek this last weekend and did not have near the luck SouthernSlabber had. I can't seem to figure this lake out. When do you know when to fish Dead lake versus the North end? When do you know that trolling is better than shooting the docks? What weight jig heads do you use at Crescent. I use 1/32 but have not been having much luck. Any advice would be greatly appreaciated.

This time of year I look for docks and shallow water more than trolling. Fish seem to be gathering up to spawn, as for dead lake.... I have never been able to catch in there but I usually plan my trip for late February or Early March depending on weather temps and the moon stages. 1/24 is perfect for shooting but you will have to special order them most stores do not carry that size, sinks at just the right rate for me but is still not to heavy to send flying, On occasion I will use 1/16 when the fish are on the bottom or the wind and waves are rather extreme.

pretty well said. it is a strange lake.............

haws creek in early december i watch an ederly gentleman use a pink curley tail with
white strip and 303 zepco on 16th oz, cast to bank, pull off into water and they
killed it. also the temp was warmer this year and could only find 3 docks that held
fish. They should have by now layed out...and really scattered..............Try tolling
the center (13 - 14ft contours) about in center1/2 - 3/4 mile north is island..
using 1/16th oz curley tails..........dark colors also someting withfire tails on s
might help. In December the Electric Chicken was hot color

What part of Crescent are you fishing? I know fishermen do not like to give out exact area's. Just point me in the general direction and area. I can do the rest. Also, what boat landing do you use? The only one I've ever used is at Dead lake.

I think he meant they kept 60 total for the days he was there. But yeah the limit in FLA is 50 though.
