Actually your right by a good hot spot where the kissimmee river comes into okeechobee theres a lock and somewhere somepipes that usually have a nice flow to anchor and catchem. along the grass lines where they mix find any drop offs and some thick grass clumps and jig the hell out of them double jig rigs and jigs tipped with minnows works well
red black white marabou jigs electric chicken color watermelon green with black pepper flecks blue n white red n white if you can find junebug/chartruese in a slider grub minnow style paddletail thats a good one or green pumpkin/ chartruese but nothing bigger than 3/16 jighead and 3" body 2"-3 " gets some nice slabs 11/2"-2" gets more legal slots which is minimum 10" crappie 25 per person per day can have 2 day limit in possesion. Good luck let me know how you did.

You could actually try using big ball head jig heads tipped with minnows but heres a tip brig a good size dip net and when you see the natural live minnows / honeyheads and they are alot bigger than the normal minnow dip a few and send them down on the big ball head jig that usualy gets a few good monster slabs!!

Wow thats just tuff fishing there ugghhh !!! I got in touch with an old friend of mine who lives in moore haven he told me south side is no where near ready for specks to hit hard hes been getting a solid 12-18 keeper during the day between hardney pond and indian prairie. at nite the best has been up in the kissimmee river launching out by okeetantie heading north hes has caught limit 3 times out of 7 which aint too bad considering about a third of them are nice big slabs. Im heading to indian prarie the weekend of the 23,24 pulling a friday nighter and all day sat till dark. I just bought the basic starter kit to tie up jigs so im in for some fast learning and getting my box stocked up. Thanks for the report !!! i will post my results when i take my trip!!

I've always have had good success at the north end of the lake around kissimee river and taylor creek, only draw back is it takes me 35 minutes from loxahatchee to south-end and about an hour and a half to the north end. but i see a longer trip in the future to catch some fish. thanks for the info. royinlox

Well monday from the banks with my boys was the terrible from clewiston to lakeport until we got to okeetantie just under the bridge i lost 4 caught 5 undersized the boys lost about 30 fish the wind was just putting too much slack in theyr lines for them to really get them it was a bummer but we still had fun and quality time i think the biggest loss of the day was when i had to swerve to miss a big bird by the side of the road and it turned out to be a wild turkey lol even my boys couldnt belive that a big turkey was walking right by the main road with cars driving by at 50 mph lol oh well no early thanksgiving brunch lmao . I will be heading up for sure friday night the 23rd most likely to indian prairie to hit it fri nite and if sat turns to poop i will run up to okeetantie to finish off the trip taken the kissimmee north this is gonna be a full bore crappie trip no bassin this time. I got 3 cane poles 2 ultralight spinners and 1 caster i will be trolling while paddling and jiggin while i can i got my fingers crossed that the wind will be easy on me and the moon helping me at night

Well i know when the numbers slow down drastically in the north end thats when the transition kicks to the south end but since we had an unusual warm winter its kinda out of whack so its a guessing game now if you launch out of the ramp in southbay take the rim canal twards clewiston and work every little cut hole tree branch clump and the edges tight especially good shady spots the green tubes with black pepper flake from midsouth works reall good and even better tipped with minnow on a slip bobber rig. but i will definetly keep you posted when i return on the 25th . How about Corbit nothing happing in there??? Usualy if a lock is open a lil bit theyr in there but your gonna work for them thru the shellcrackers blugill and bass. just south of corbit about 2 miles and i cant remeber the street but at the end of it you come to a big canal which has a huge orange grove on the other side that was always good for a dozen keeper just jiggin 1/16 oz

Well my trip never got to happen do to the following event thursday evening before the friday launch date my son and me were heading downstairs for dinner and as he slipt missing a step i went for the catch which i made holding him up by his arm and him looking at me like in deer in the headlights. Little did i know i had already hyperextended my foot let alone knew i twisted my ankle . Now stareing at the walls for the next 7 days with a ballooned foot and ankle burning thru ice like no tomorrow i went to get x-rays and found out yes hyperextention on the foot , yes twisted ankle but not the lower which i thought it was but a highly sprained upper ankle putting me into a camlock boot for the next 6 weeks UGGHHHH !! My son now knows dont ever play on the stairs and always hold the rail while watching where you walk . He also knows daddy is jacked up from saving him but as we get older it takes a hell of alot longer to heal than when we were young. So now im pushing for within the next 3 - 4 weeks upon what doc says will i make my trip but not to just 1 area not it will have to be 3 areas okeechobee / kissimmee river , Indian prarie , clewiston .
So instead i will be tying jigs and counting the days doing couch fishing on the tv crying at the missing opertunities where i can be fishing .
Sorry i couldnt have better news or updates but my luck by the time im cleared to go or from cabin fever which ever comes first im hoping that the spawn will pop by clewiston / south bay area if not indian prarie will be a sure shot !!
