Default One last trip to Monroe

I made my last trip to Monroe this morning and did quite well. I wound up with 45, some nice size fish but no slabs. I fished the deepest water I could find and had some luck. All fish were caught on jigs in 7' to 11.5' of water 6' to 8' down. Winds got up pretty good around 11am, I quit fishing around noon. Monroe is my king of lake, I will return next year. This coming week we will be on a cruse but I will give them heck the end of the month at Manatte with Mike, I HOPE. I only took 2 pictures today but I'm having a problem posting for some reason. I wish you all a great slab fest and good luck Speckanator.

Nice work Anchor man!! I stopped by the ramp on the way home and saw the Crappiemasters truck in the parking lot and a bunch of nice rigs in the parking lot from out of state. Looks like you were fishing among some legends out there. And I know they were Crappie riga with all the BnM and Grizzly jig stickers on the trucks and trailers.

Yes for all the fish I caught the past two weeks I only took 10 out of the lake, 5 went for dinner and boy were they good and 5 went to my neighbor. All of those nice 13" and 14"'s I caught last week got a free pass. Hope they can be two pounders next year.

Thanks to your report and others, I've done fairly well on monroe the past week. Fished saturday and today and while we didn't have any stellar days, we caught some quality fish and got into some big hybrids up river today which was real fun on light tackle. Took us over 10 minutes to boat the day ending triple. We caught them fishing pretty much the same as you were. I don't troll much in my local lake because it just isn't productive for some reason but it's been fun draggin baits for a change.

Running through a school of hybrids while trolling reminds me of tuna fishing. If we had boated half the fish we broke off today we would have had trouble shutting the lid on the cooler. Thanks again for the report...it helped me have success on a lake I havn't fished much.
