Just 3 weeks ago I released 3 at the public boat ramp. Years ago we caught some at night from the dredge hoes on the east side. I asked fishin813 just today if there was a stocking program for Thonotosassa. He didn't know and I don't either. No reason they shouldn't be there in numbes. Water quality has really improved. Were they near the Baker Creek outflow?
My cousin years ago skipped part of school day to go there on the north side. Brought 25 home and ask his mother if his Dad would be mad about school and what was he going to do with the fish. She told him they were going to clean them and have them for supper. His Dad told him "you got em boy" That boy is now 77 YO.

By the way those are very nice fish.

Scouted out the area today, nice park, seemed to be alot of truck/trailer parking (about 20 spots?). ramp looked good. Public park opens at 6am.

The small fish camp down the street......Reeses fish camp? well the gent inside was a nice fellow with helpful info. He has a ramp there also, 5 bucks to launch, but no minnows for the live baiters.

Looks like, weather permitting, saturday morning Im hitting it early

Fact: Largest lake in Hillsbourgh county as stated to by another friendly local at the public ramp then again he said something about 5 pound specks and 50 pound catfish in there too, just prior to rolling off the picnic table and almost ending up on the ramp still a nice fellow.

so many lakes..... not enought time.

Biggest lake in Hillsborough County huh. Hell I lived over there for 5 years and they have no lakes to fish. You'd have to be fishing ditches and retention ponds to find any water.

There are two excellent fisheries in this area..........
Lake Tarpon is 39 miles away from Thono - Seffner area - 2,500 acres producing nice
    1 3/4 pounders, some in 2 pound range - fishin813 - adjust555 - jamin696
yelim along with several of FCC club members will talk about this one

and Lake Manatee in Manatee county, 35 miles, another 2,500 acre producing its
share of 1 3/4 & 2 pounders............Jamin696 will attest to this, again along with
fishin813, Yelim and several FCC members

Both these lakes are on Western tournament trail of FCC Cllub.

I 150% agree with you, Thonotosassa is a "mud hole" for spec's Does however, have population of good
to large bass, catfish, medium to large healthy bluegill and smattering of shellcrackers.

    Just my opinion..............
