Well I've got my 2lb13oz at masters taxidermy in ocoee should be picking it up in the next couple weeks.these people were highly recommended to me so we will see shortly.i tried the bass pro in Orlando talked to three different people about giving them the fish for a replica and they said headquarters would not give me one. They wanted the fish for there tank.they told me they only do it for bass.and even then they got to be biggg.i felt bad about putting her down for the mount but I figured the odds of me catching one bigger then that one would be tough. And I wanted to be able to say that's the real fish.i will post picks when I get her back.

I am a retired taxidermist and have several I mounted 30 years ago and still look great. Just find a good taxidermist, not one doing work out of his basement. Check references.

I would have a replica made just like Roy did. I saw the fish and it looks great. Those big crappie took a long time to grow that big, so if they made it through the years without getting eaten or caught, why not let them live.

A replica of my pictures would be fine for me................I swim slightly upstream here but part of the thrill for me is seeing that fish released and swimming away. Its a little weird... but very satisfying to me

I know it might be against some but I have 9 mounted fish & they are all real, I have several deer & other animals & they are real.
They look awesome & it is the fish or animal that I caught or harvested- unsure of their life span but time will tell.
Never thought of getting a replica of a deer so why on a fish, a trophy to me may be different than to others -
get it the way you want & enjoy. The taxidermist I use is excellant & he will only mount freshwater fish something about the oils in the saltwater
fish makes it hard to do & not last as long.

I'm all for releasing them too, but I planning on keeping Mr. or Ms. Big when I catch em'.

I do plan on keeping the real thing just one time...if that day ever comes. But it sure is nice to release all the large females so they can dance again.
Or I guess so they can reproduce more 'tiny dancers'.

I'm waiting for the 3 pounder although I have been thinking about having a group display done with some 2.5 pounders. Catch a few of those every spring
