    Default Local Bait Shops

Just thought we could start a thread for bait shops. My local used to be The Tackle Box but now that it is closed mine is. Plus Im tired of yellow pages saying theirs one somewhere and it's been closed for years.

    TAMPA AREA

    Bills Bait and Tackle

A great little shop always has minnows shinners jumpers, and crickets. All Freshwater gear. The worst part of the shop is he closes occasionally to go fishing. But that means he gives an actual report of what he has been doing not B.S. Biggest water near is Tampa Bypass Canal.

    Turkey Creek Bait & Tackle

A good shop always has minnows shinners, and crickets. Its reliable and has a good selection of jigs. Nearest water is Medard Reservoir.

    4616 State Road 60 W
    Plant City, FL 33567
    (813) 737-1566

    GAINESVILLE AREA

    Lochloosa Harbor

They know what brings use to the area and they cater to it. They have good selection of speck tackle. And they carry minnows. I wish they would carry goldies but we cant have it all. Great selection of jigs. And some pretty cool spider rigs too!! Nearest Water Lochlossa.

If you look at the top of the page, SLAB has a link to Baitshop Guide. This is for all states, but you can sort for Florida, the cities.

I wouldn't go to Lochloosa Harbor if it would save my life. I am usually very positive on here. But the owners there are some of the rudest people I have ever seen!

X2 wasnt gonna say anything but if someone already put it out there i dont mind. If you ask for 100 crickets you might get 50. The ramp is in terrible shape also.

I second Hawthorne Bait & Tackle. SYG introduced me to it and it's a good place.

Does everyone know parksplace on 39th ave in Gainesville has minnows and shinners and usually crickets. The owner Terry Parks is always there at 6am. and ready to sell bait ice and beverages. They also carry musical insterments if anyone tryes to serenade the fish into the boat.
