Thanks for the accurate report of "full mooning" for spec's....
Know how you feel, have tried same repeatedly sometimes a little better, but
nothing in high-light reels or to crow about.
Can't answer total question of the problem.....got to have someting to dowith
magnetic movement of full moon... other species of fishes react well to full moon
    day time fishing...(bluegill-shellcrackers)
Try same thing only do it about 7-9 days after full and give report.... this is best
time i have found for the night bite

After you trolled did you just sit in the same place? Were you fishing minnows on bobbers? How did you rig your lights? Thanks for the info. I'm trying to learn how to night fish both to catch specks in the summer and to get away from the $%#@! jet skiers! Since I can't afford the gas to get to the lakes I want to go to I'm staying close to home fishing the creeks. Guess I got to get me one of those fish findin dogs like Fred huh?

Set your light about 2' below the water with a bobber setup. The light will reflect off the underside of the water and create a mushroom effect.

We sat for about 2hrs after the moon came up with the light on and about a 1 1/2hrs with the light off. I have floating light hooked to a 2x2 extending out about 4ft from the boat. Was fishing minners & bobbers. Then trolled back to the ramp with minners and jigs. Still had fun catching fish, just not the fish we wanted.

the above items are all strange to me for use at night fishing.........
We usually set up on an area, where there is a drop-off, try to set on angle of drop.
use one anchor in nose, so as boat will go out over drop and back to flat or beginning
of drop.... we use 3 - 250 hyogen lights - 5' up & 4' at 45 degree out over water.
on side of boat we use 4 -6, 125 watt energy indoor/outdoor lights inside of 8" alum
umbrella shields....all of this attached to 2,000 watt generator............... everything
set up to one side of boat..............on my 18 1/2 pro-craft i have 20 rod holders,
we do all vertical drops, no bobbers, no extended type long rods.......we use all
rods from 5' to 8'............1/4 oz. bullet weight suspended above #2 hook with tiny split
shot to hold it about 1' above hook, thereby, allowing minnow to swim around.
By using the one anchor, the boat will move slowly around flat to drop and back.....
allowing bait fish to come to light etc... etc...............vertical drops of rods, starting
at 10' down to about 5' down................
Thats are complete outfit..........works on kissimmee, east toho, medard, rosalie,
lake carleton, lake dora, lake beauclair & lake hamilton in Winter haven chain.
    Works year round..

Hey fishin813, sounds like good setup. I think I might take that light back because it might not give enough light for us.

Could you please post a picture of that setup. I don't see how you have room to fish with all those lights! I'm sure it works I just can't visualize it.

I have a 16 foot boat. How many lights do I need to use? Is one in the middle enough?
