Thought I'd throw my strange catch in here. I was down near Pensacola, Fl last May, and we were fishing from a surfside pier down there. I caught a brand new $5 lure. Of course, maybe that's not that unusual, but the way it happened is kind of strange.

The ladyfish were schooled and in a feeding frenzy. We were throwing these `Gotcha` plugs that are popular on the surf. If you've ever caught a ladyfish, you know that they are some violent creatures once you get them on a hook. We could only land one out of three or four fish that we hooked. They thrash and jump so violently, that by the time you get them on the pier, they're a bloody mess. The trick, by the way, is to use a really light lure and small hook - they can't throw that nearly as easily. That is, of course, if you actually are trying to catch them. We were casting to spanish, but the ladyfish would come through and it was a wrap - they'd take the lure in a flash.

Well anyway, these ladyfish were so eager to attack a lure, that I foul hooked one in the side, and when I got it up on the pier, it had a brand new Gotcha plug hooked in its mouth that broke off from a previous hooking. I guess it couldn't bite the lure, since its mouth was full, so it had to figure out a different way, lol...
