I used to run big game offshore fishing charters out of louisiana. One saturday afternoon I had a client and his brother on board who instructed me, being a young captain and all, that they were "professionals" and just needed me to take them out to the oil rigs and stay out of their way... Ran about 70 miles to the deep water and they started jigging for tuna(one on either side of my center console) while I was setting up a chum slick. Moments later they both hooked up simultaneously, screaming that they had monster yellowfins. One would reel and reel while the others fish was slowly pulling drag and then he would start to gain some line while the others fish would turn and run under the boat and slowly pull out some line. I realized pretty quickly what was going on, but to respect their wishes I let them figured out on their own that they had hooked each other. They were so focused that it took them a good little while. They heaved and heaved and cussed about their fish not wanting to budge but I guess my snickering got to loud. They tucked their tails and swallowed their pride after that and we got along well. We ended up having a good trip with several 3 digit yellowfin and a man in the blue suit(Blue Marlin).
