I was 9 yr's old when I walked the mile in a half up to the local hardware store to buy my first Case poket knife. I saved the money from collecting soda bottels and mowin lawns. The store clerk wouldn't sell it to me on the count of me being a minor so I asked him to call my mom on the phone which he did and my mom said it would be ok with her. I am in my early 40's now and from that day on I have always carried that knife or another Case knife.

Are there really guys out there that don't carry a pocket knife? I cut my first teeth on a pocket knife. Great pacifier! Uncle Henry to be exact. Worked on a dairy farm where Barlows came free with meds for the cows. Had a 'Blackout' by Ken Onion. Love that 'assisted opening'! Currently purchasing kershaw's Whirlwind by Onion. Camo design. I have a 'M-Tech' I bought for $10. Cheap knife but blade is easy to sharpen and holds a razor edge. Knives are like anything else, $1.00 up to who knows. I really respect the custom makers. I shy away from the 'custom price' though. Living on a 'Walmart' budget. If you ain't got a knive in your pocket, shame on you!

I carry a good ole Case,I use for everything from stripping wire to cutting shad, If you look real close you can see old dried shad blood on the blade. That stuff has been on there since this past winter, man that stuff is tuff.

I'm never without a knife! I can't remember when my Grandad gave me my first one, but I wasn't very old. My favorite was a Buck stockman I carried for years and wore out. I've had a lot of them over the years, and a lot of different disigns. Some go in the drawer after a couple of days after I figure out they don't feel as good as they look. I also carry a pocket diamond steel, so I never have an excuse for a dull knife!

I didn't say this for simpathy, we view death as a part of living. i'll tell you what he has made 1 hell of a run of it, and don't regret any of it, more power to you dad.

I am 53 now, at 7 years old my uncle sold me 12 knifes for a quarter ( he died 13 years ago). They weren't much but I got the fever. I owned ~ 300 knives until Dad passed away a couple of years ago, and I got his so now I got ~450 mostly Cases and Oldtimers (but that includes some Lile, Queen Steel, Cutco, Kutmaster, Buck, JA Henkel, Boker, etc) . I enjoy them, use them, and will pass them along, but I sure miss trying to trade my Dad and my uncle out of their knives. But my favorite is an old wooden handle one blade no name knife that a friend found and Dad put the handles on it for me.

Currently I am carrying a Buck,(U.S.A. made), model #503. I broke the tip off,(my fault), and sent it back to Buck and they replaced it no ??? asked. I also purchased a Knives of Alaska skinning knife recenty at BPS and it is a VERY good knife. Up until a few years ago I only used Gerber knives...until they sold out and moved their operations from Portland to "another country".

I currently carry a Case. Always liked a Case. Have carried a Buck, Gerber, and Old Timer. I like the Old Timers, just didn't like the rust. Only took a day or two in the summer in my pocket for em to rust.

I think the one I have in my pocket now is red handled mini-stockman.
