I hopped over here from the Florida forum, to make a comment when i saw the title. This area of the Illinois River is where i was born and raised. It served a lot of commercial fishermen with carp, catfish, etc. a great bass fishing area as well.i, myself fished it for years and boated it. What has happened with the Asian carp has been a disaster. To eat them would be great, except there are so many millions of them now, that it would never solve the problem. To commercial fish them out and do a large fish kill and restock is the only solution to getting rid of them. You can not even SAFELY boat on the river now with your familys for fear of a flying fish hitting one of your children .
