Story goes back 16 years ago when I was in middle school. My friend and I decided to go fishing at this big pond near our house. All we had were a rod, net, bucket, crank bait and corns as baits. We were having so much because we caught so many perches with corns. We were fighting for the rod back and forward because we can’t have enough of it. It became competitive because we were keeping track to see who caught more fishes. We were naturally competitive because we play sport. Fishing wasn’t even a hobby for us; it was just one of those rare things we do once a while. But after a while, it became less attractive because catching it was so easy. We decided to throw all the corns in the pond because we thought anyone can catch a dumb fish with real bait. We didn't really care because we were just catching and releasing it at same time. We decided who ever can catch the most fish with crank bait will have the most skills. The only experience I ever had with fake bait is when I watched bass master a few times on espn, so I thought it was easy. A half hour later, we both had….. 0 fishes. Now to think back, I think the only reason we were catching them at first because the perches were close to surface and all we had to do was lay the corn near their mouth. As we were about to give up, my friend pulled in the perch and I was pretty much shocked and mad. I didn’t want to lose, so I just took the rod and tried the next 10 minutes to catch a fish but still nothing at all. I gave the rod back to him and accepted defeat. He went on and fish, I took the net that we had and start swiveling it around the water. I guess I had nothing to do but just play with the water, since I felt like a loser. When I pull the net out this channel that I was sitting on; somehow, a really big catfish in the net. The catfish was at least 14 inches long. Even though, I was still the big loser that can’t catch a fish with the fake bait, I came home with the biggest fish. I took it home, but ended taking it back because my parent told me it will die if I keep it. :D
