    Hey I got one...........

Here at Ross Barnett below the Dam we can fish from the bank and when the water and times are right you can just slay the Crappie. Heck it gets so bad with boats the running joke is you can walk from one side to the other and never get your feet wet.

Anyway........... a bunch of us were fishing from the bank and doing pretty good when this guy in a boat without a motor comes paddling up RIGHT infront of us, I mean between bank and the spot we were fishing. Not five feet from the bank. We were fishing jigs under corks, so he must have known that by doing that he was blocking us from where we were getting bites.

Well to start with we were being polite(really we were) and telling him that since we were fishing first in that spot and that we were handicapped by not having a boat to go to another place, that he was just going to have to find somewhere else to park his boat and fish.

He ignored us, until I picked up a softball sized rock and tossed it into his boat. You would be amazed what a rock that size sounds like when it hits the bottom of an aluminum jon boat. I give him a little credit, when the other guys reached down and each picked up a rock he understood that finding a new place to fish would be in his best interest unless he wanted to start swimming.

Now I know that might not have been sporting of me, but it's bad enough that you have to put up with knuckle-heads on the bank crowding you out whenever you start catching fish, you should not have to put up with them from boats also. Just because we had found fish did not give him the right to block everybody from fishing from the bank.

Once in 1982 I was fishing in a 6 man raft with my wife and daughter when a drunken waterskier decided to try and drown us with a big wave up close from his ski. As he proceeded to send all that water our way, he dumped it, right next to our raft. Thankfully, in those days I was not armed. But he and his drunken buddies got a very stern sermon while my wife was writing down their boat REG #'s, and that evening they were on the sheriffs list of DUI boaters on that lake. Don't know if they got in trouble or not, but we never saw them again out there.
On the other hand, once while float tube fishing a popular lake, a foxy gal on a jetski actually stopped a ways from me and stating how she hated those jetski's and all their racket, watched me catching big slabs and bull bluegill for quite a while, asking questions and being very nice. Actually made my day better. Wish there were more like her, who will shut their machines down and do the calm thing and flirt awhile...
    I have a jig with a face like this!

Yes some "sportsmen" will be like that. It's a good thing that you had the boat.
