What happened? Their was all of this hype and now I haven't heard a word about is since. Does anyone know if it is still coming out or did Humminbird put the smack down on them?

You should see the StructureScan after late summer. I think it's more realistic to get one in my hands around the holidays due to production and demand. The StructureScan can be used on any of the HDS units and even networked.

Default When I say "hear-tell" that means...

...IT AIN'T NECESSARILY SO!!! So unruffle your feathers and don't be so caustic. Nonsense? Listen. The SI is on their website but they are not selling it to dealers yet. Why? The second-hand information I got from my DEALER who says he got it from Lowrance (I guess that makes it 'third-hand' info) is...nonsense? We'll see.

Now what I'm about to say is not 'hear-tell.' This is fact. I will never put out the completely insane amounts of cash they want for anybody's SI unit. That, my crappiecommer friend is (you guessed it) NONSENSE. I admit though, if I was a money fisherman, I could probably make it pay for itself...but I'm not. So, for me, SI units (like other elements of society) have just priced themselves right out of this pleasure fisherman's market.

The original announcement said it wouldn't be available until this winter. It's not being shipped later than planned.

Here is what I don't understand. The hds units from Lowrance already cost as much as the SI units from Humminbird. From what I understand in order to use an SI with the HDS system more components are necessary. From the HDS 8 and 10 ( points of cost )
models you can buy a 997c right at a cost below either of these Lowrance models.

Right now for my money Humminbird seems to be the better investment in the long run. I would have thought that Lowrance would have brought their product in at a price point that would be more attractive to the consumer.

Some consumers are brand loyal and I understand staying with what has been good to one in the past. But remember one thing , a lot of companies suddenly decide that good customer service is unprofitable. Soon you are talking to a person in a third world country on the phone. Trying to explain what is wrong with your high tech equipment to a person with limited English skills and no actual knowledge of your equipment. All he knows is the script they have taught him.

All the crap on hd is bull. You will never see the fish any better than with a state of the art flasher unit. The three color flashers are real time also not like the graphs that show you as you float by the spot. I have lowrance sonar and a friend has the h-bird and we both watch the flasher the most. FYI, Lowrance had SI in the long, long ago. If anything, HB took it from them and ran with it. Doesn't matter to me. Let's get several brands out there with SI so that they will drop the prices on them instead of taking advantage of the customer for some electric sand.
