Will only work with Garmin. None of the other GPS Gods will help with private/individualized maps. They want yo monies for their stuff, which, ain't worth a crap in lots of areas.
I got it figured out and it is easy to implement into the Mapping Garmins.
Just a hobby for me. Fun project.

Not if you make your own maps. But, the gotcha for me is the dedicated memory card. I haven't made any maps yet. I used the Ky Hrdrographx maps of Ky Lake and put them on my gps. The Ky Hydrographx maps are far more detailed than Navionics or Mapsourse Hot Spots. I have all all three.
Making maps takes time and money. So, 120 bucks is a drop in the bucket.
What I am saying is you can make your own maps if you fish an area with just blank colored areas if you so want to and you can install them in the Garmin GPS There are no shortcuts. It is only money. Crappie go for about a 1000 bucks a pound now.
I am just saying it can be done.
This can easily be done on a laptop, but it is hard to see in bright sunlight.
