Default 997 shuts down at crank up??/repeat

Well, the engine upgrade from 90 hp to 115 hp Yamaha now causes the HB 997 to shut off at crank up. Only the 997 shuts down. The Lowrance LMS27c stays on and the Vexilar stays on. All are fused from the same distribution point. Hmmmmm.

All new everything including power cable noise kit for HB.

Maybe I need to add one of those 1 farad capacitors like the trunk thumpers use.

    It never ends.

Check the setting on 997 I believe you can lower to some degree what "low amps setting is" that shuts off unit. May help....

Yea I've been thinking of just adding another battery just for the electronics and maybe night fishing lights. I've had the same problem from time to time with the 1197, it seems these things pull alot of current, I can have my volt meter on the incoming power to my fuse box and it reads 12.5 vdc and when I turn the 1197 on it will drop some times to 10.7 to 10.9 but most of the time it's around 11.5 vdc, and when I start the OB motor it will drop to around 9 vdc, and I have new batterys

Had the same problem when I got this boat. Changed to a larger battery, and haven't had the problem since.

This is what I will probably do. I just purchased a type 27 everstart. I will try it out.

But, you should not have to make exceptions for any particular piece of marine electronics. Seems to be no standards. Maybe NMEA has some standards?
