tvg off created vertical lines on my 797 sonar. also caused unit to loose bottom when traveling with big motor sooner than tvg on. and when you go over cover it just shows a vertical peak.Kim @ hbird said try to increase noise filter.i did and it didnot clear the vertical lines. my opinion that increase in filter just defeats the purpose. aint happy with the tvg off feature. FISH-ON!!!!!
UT Fan and Joby,
I had the same problem with depths going crazy on my 997. I was in 10 ft of water and it was suddenly show 50-60 ft. This started as soon as I installed the new update. I shared this on the yahoo side imaging website and found out that a few others had the same issue. It turns out that you need to "restore defaults" before applying the new updates. The restoring defaults is the key. All of us that experienced the crazy depth issue didn't restore defaults before applying the new software patch. UT try this. Go into the menu (I can't remember which one) where you can restore defaults and restore. Then, reinstall the software. That should fix it. If it doesn't, you may need to go through the process again and reinstall the previous software first and reinstall the newest software.
Your right Ice about defaults. Says so right on their site if you dont problems might happen.

CrappiekiddYou are right-- BUT it was added a few days? after update came out so a lot of people were not aware of it, so one can't blame them, just one of those things I guess.................................Your right Ice about defaults. Says so right on their site if you dont problems might happen.
