Well, ya'll know I've been plenty critical of these guys,
but I do try to acknowledge it when they do good
I haven't got to go fishing lately, but took the time to do the latest
updates on my 787 and 797 today. Got several nice surprises I wasn't
expecting, mainly with the 797.
Got a new item on the SI menu,
gives you some input over contrast and sharpness -
doesn't seem to do much good for the simulation view,
but I've got a feeling it may do a lot when actually on the water.
I believe it "untied" the SI scroll speed from the regular sonar scroll speed
too. Before, at least on mine, when you changed one, it changed both.
And I know I'm gonna appreciate what they did with how
depth offset affects the screen view. I run my tm real deep in the water,
so I have a lot of offset on my front unit - now the depth lines on the
screen SHOULD match up with what I'm seeing.
Anyway, nice job guys, and I'll give you a break on the "other" problem -
for a few days anyway :D

FISH-ON!!!!!
Jeff I run my Tm deep also. and have mine set where it shows the right depth.
Sure wish they would give the ones that bought the 987c-Si the updates also.

Okmy front trans. is on bottom of troll motor
so it's two feet deep already
thus in 14' fow I only read 12'
UNTIL I adjust depth offset on setup page to correct.
this makes the digital depth read right.
BUT when you look at the actual screen with the depth lines across
it, everything was off by two feet. If you're trolling along and see a
lot of fish at one of the lines, say 10 feet, they were really at 12 feet.
And looking at the bottom in relation to the depth lines, it will be off
by two feet.
I'm not makin this up, this is one of the things the fix was supposed to
take care of, and it seems like it did. If I've got everybody all confused,
go to the h'bird site and pull up the description of the update, maybe
it words it better.

Has anyone tried the new software in 2D mode. You can go down under the sonar tab and turn the TVG off. By turn the TVG off you will get a lot more detail with and using the 200/83khz. It is g reat for jigging and seeing brush piles. We think our 2 D sonar is as good if not better than the XXXXX brand.
I haven't got to the water yet, but I've got the TVG turned off, and
I'm looking forward to seeing what difference it makes.
Maybe Sunday, if it ain't pouring rain.

Joby,
Have you heard anything when the new update may be available for the
777c2 and 987 units? Would certainly like to have the updates so I hope the older units are covered.
Thanks
I have used TVG off and I think it is great!!! Matter of fact it has stayed TVG off for the last three fishing trips I have been on.. I think the upgrade is wonderful!! Not really getting anything extra out of the new settings on the SI.. I don't know that it could be improved upon the images that I get anyway.. All three times I have had the SD card in the port but no MMC card.. I left it my card reader so I don't have any images to post but maybe I will do that on Monday if I venture out...
