Hi all, I have been cruising your forum for the last week or so and See that you all hold a lot of knowledge.
I have a dilemma on my hands regarding upgrading my current console fishfinder (eagle 320 mono).
I am on the fence between a Lowrance 522c which is on sale at a major outdoor retailer for 500.00 or the Hummingbird 788ci. for about 600 to my door.
The bird has better resolution and seems to be the better unit overall and I thought I would ask for opinions here before I pull the string on a large purchase for my wallet.
I live in Colorado but still chase the warm water fish like crappie and bass as well as walleye so structure fishing is still pretty key for me. I typically fish in waters less than 80 feet and more often than not 1-12 feet.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts and suggestions.

If it were me and I had enough dough I would go ahead and pony up the cash for side imaging. Both are good units and work great as fishfinders/GPS combo units.

I really wish I could do that but I just can't right now.
looking forward,, in a couple of years I will be upgrading my boat, I am planning on moving the unit I buy now to the bow, and network in a side imaging unit at that time.
Thanks for the suggestions and input thus far.

I have a lowrance LMS 527 C I love it! I don't remember, is the 522 GPS/sonar? If not GPS well worth the extra dough. Nothing against Hummingbird, I've just never owned one.
If you plan to network, you've made your choice. Much easier to network a humminbird to a humminbird.
I have settled on the 788ci for my upgrade phase 1.
Thanks again everybody
Brett
