With a little help I have put togther all the recent Humminbird Firmware updates (new and old) in one place to download. You will need to be logged in and go to the Download Section under Software and Software Development.

This was created for those who either had problems with or didn't like the recent firmware upgrade and wanted to go back to the previous version.

    Good Luck,

    RGecy

Thanks for taking the time to post the various software updates for the units.

I am still hoping that soon someone will have information on when update 4.510 will be available for older units, such as the 987 and the 777c2.

    Thanks again

Default Had to Send in 797 C to Humminbird

Found out after I did update that I should have set everything back to default settings. Now unit cannot see fish in a teacup. Got ahold of support and they said I had to send it in.

While I was on the phone I inquired about the update again on my 987C. Pretty soon will be two months of waiting. The lady I talked to said she could see no further updates for the older units in the near future. In the last few years I have bought a 737 , 981C , 987C , 788c and finally the 797C.
The 987c and 797c are still with me. They might be my very last HB's.

The 987c came out in 2005 and the newer units have larger processors to handle the new updates and added software. There is only so much processing power and adding things like TVG and other upgrades that use the processor more, will only cause issues.

Honestly, most companies would not have continued to add features to the discontinued models like Humminbird has. Cudos on their part.

They seem to have an awesome group of guys who would do anything to keep the customers happy!

Yeah I guess I expect too much for a 2000 dollar investment. Probably should just toss the 987c on a junk pile somewhere and spend another 2-3 thousand dollars on something that will be outdated in another 3 years. Hope no one holds their breath waiting on that to happen.

I ain't too crazy about this TVG feature. Constantly having to turn it on and off because of the various depths I fish.

They ain't fixed the slow response screen refresh issue yet. They had over a year to fix it. The issue is a "sticky" here.
