    Default Lowrance Hd

Just got home from Bass Pro and really liked the interface on the new HD units from Lowrance.. Way to take it to the next level Lowrance!! I may just have to buy one of those bad boys for the bow of the boat..

Did you get a chance to look at the complete lineup? Don't think they have the 8's and 10's out yet...hope I am wrong. Would like to know the comparison of the 8 vs the 7 (resolution). Lots of coin for sure.. I was thinking the sweet spot would be the 7 but the 8 gives you higher resolution (same as the 10) but has less surface area. Same pixel but less surface area??? Does that mean in the end you would get higher quality resolution??? Will have to check that one out. All things being considered I hope this IS a step up for Lowrance. Lots of speculation in regards to Lowrance doing an SI thing. Personally, I don't think its in the works. But if a fellow had to bet on HB fixing there "lag" problem and Lowrance doing an SI thing....which one would you bet on?

Here is some discussion about Lowrance...purely speculation and conjecture...

I played with one at BPS, and I didn't care for the interface. Maybe it just takes some getting used to, but I like the old Lowrance menu system better. What I did like was seeing that they've gone to a different keypad, which seems more robust.

It a toss up... I have learned to adapt to the gps on my 1197, I can make mine work for what I do with it.. I have had the high accuracy receiver from Humminbird since mid December but have not had a chance to get it on the water.. Too much frozen water in this neck of the woods..

The HDS 5 & 7 are the only ones available right now. Hopefully Lowrance will have the 8 & 10 out in a couple of weeks. Sure getting a lot of requests for them.

I noticed the 8 & 10 got some fancier controls - "flywheel" they call it -
sounds/looks like the gizmo on my kids MP3 player. Neat on it, anyway.

As far as the Lowrance SI thing, Mr. Crappie spoke up about it, a YES
and I've heard it from some other encouraging sources that it is in the
    works...
