    Default which type of unit should I get?


    I want a colored screen. Looking to stay in the $300 range. Garmin has a
    160c and a 300c, lowrance 67x and 500c (which is $350), eagle has a 350c, hummingburd doesnt seem to have any colored units in this price range except the 383c that has a gps, and has very good reviews but its $400. This is going on a jon boat, I'm a beginner in the sonar world and I "think" the colored screen would be easier to indentify things but not sure if it really matters. Please help.

    Pick the unit with the largest screen, most pixels, and most power that will fit in your budget.

    Cabelas has several units on sale that get close to your price limit.

    With that budget you would get alot more bang for your buck if you got a black and white unit.

    If you don't mind buying a discontinued model Valence Marine has the Humminbird 747c on closeout for $278. Usually sells for $400. Great buy on a good color unit.

    My choise would be the 500c, hard to beat the low.
    If it will hold cornmeal it's big enough for me !!!!!!!!!

    dont give up the color screen and stay with the biggest screen with pixels. I recently bought one and those were my key interest. MY price range was some were around there but as always i bumped up to a unit that had gps, couldn't pass it up originally 649.00 on sale 499.00. Look for deals like that , I'm not sure about you but when i buy something i generally have it until its dead so buy something you really want

    what is the difference between Lowrance and Eagle? Is it like Chevy and GMC?
