I know the co-pilot for the Terrova allows you to turn the AP on and off. The co-pilot for the P/D doesn't have that option. Gets to be a pain going up front to turn it on and off. The A/P continues to function whether the motor is running on not.

Im thinking of getting one of the autopilot MK's, other than 10# difference in the 2 models, is there much of a difference. Also, BPS pulled the terrovas from their store about 3 months ago, anyone know if its being discontinued or being replaced by a new model? thx

Thx for replies, i didn't know that about on/off difference. I can see where that would be a nuisance.
what's up with the deployment problem? I typically slide the collar down and lock it in place before traveling to prevent. Learned this in the owners manual and realized that it was a good idea to prevent damage. The only thing I don't like about the co pilot is the speed adjustment is not infinite. One click and you may be going too fast.
Mine won't deploy when you step on the release. You have to hold down the release and kick the motor to get it to deploy-----this is quite a feat for an old fat man. I agree with the copilot speed increments, I often use the foot pedal for speed control and steer with the copilot. I'd like to have one of those handheld controls some folks built for their powwerdrives, but no one has come up with anything that will work, and I'm electronics challenged.
Oh, you can't get it to deploy. I have heard of problems with accidental deploy and thought this is what you are talking about. May need some greasing on the mechanism that releases the motor into the water. I will take mine apart tomorrow and look for what may be causing your problem. Are you able to post pics of your unit?
I have also wanted one of the hand held dial type speed controllers, but the co pilot is the closest thing to it. I have looked inside my foot pedal and there is too much going on in there to make a control that we are looking for. Minn Kota should take this into consideration and look to develop one. I did find it easier to maintain the speed with the foot control and use the fob for steering and wind correction. Had plenty of time to get the hang of it. Sunday was supposed to be light and variable, but turned out to be 5-15.
I will try to get pictures today, working on the trailer lights so just as well work on trolling motor too. thanks jeepstero4
