I guess they gave up on the 997.

    Didn't know they made a 998.

But then, I ain't part of their tag team either.

Billy Mays ain't selling it yet, so it ain't new and improved and I bet you can't get 2 for the price of one.

I bought the 797 and thought it would be the greatest thing since jigs. In my little fishing world all I need is a good GPS to find my spots and HB doesn't have a good GPS so I use my Garmin 378 and use the 797 just for sonar split with SI. I can't say that I have found anything with the SI that made me say WOW. With that said I'm not the guy driving around trying to find something to fish. I have those on my Garmin and it gets locked up in the safe when I get home if you follow what I'm saying.
If you don't make your own spots then you'll enjoy driving around with the SI.
The HB might be a better investment than GM stock right now.

warning all data is presented for reference only you assume total responsability and risk associated with using this device. * this warning came with the new GARMIN etrex legend. just purchased by a friend of mine, HUMMIMBIRD is no different than GARMIN both tell you that their product is a reference tool and not to bet your life on the gps. I like both my HUMMINBIRDS 777 and 797 and when I get enough saved up I am going to buy another HUMMINBIRD. now if garmin and humminbird coud get togather on gps hummmmm maby the best of the best. just my two cents worth.
