Reelfoot - just remember these are just my opinions (and I'm a nut)
    so your results may vary

I threw this out there to share and see if anybody else had something to
add - shoot, I'm usually too busy fishing to spend so much time pushing
buttons. But all the talk had me wondering, so I put in a little extra effort.

    Default Gps

My garmin map76s [handheld] is almost always closer than either one of my lowrance 5200 and 5300-- one internal and one external ant.
The lake I fish the most [shelbyville] may have bad recption ??? but the garmin stays locked on and the lowrance,s almost never lock on the waas [its mounted in a lot worse location than the other two]

Always go with external ant. In fact thats why Hb & Lowrance don't use internal on high end units, its cause of poor Reception. The nature of the beast says internal ant. is always going to be blocked on one side or ends by unit itself, and by location of your unit & by you sitting right if front of unit sure doesn't help.
Yes JWhite I like the Si & down looks on my 997 & happy with that but the damn GPS @##**## I wonder if the president of HB knows that the only way many/most 997 owners can enjoy his product is to buy a GARMIN Handheld for finding the neat places U see on SI screen. Maybe his girlfriend is pres of Garmin????
